New years resolutions are promises people make to themselves at the beginning of a new year. The most common of new years resolutions are weight loss. You might tell yourself "I am going to loose weight this year in 2020" or it may be "I want to save money this year in 2020" or "I want to quit smoking in 2020". Whatever bad habit you need to break, it's never easy to keep new years resolutions. This may be because we are lazy or just don't have the resources and self control to keep resolutions. 1. Start with realistic goals.
Don't start with crazy goals that you won't be able to accomplish. This makes it too hard to stick with things. You will get overwhelmed and not be able to keep going. Start small and work your way up.
2. Find someone to hold you accountable
If you are wanting to loose weight, find a gym partner that makes you accountable of going to the gym everyday. If you wish to save money, find a free financial counselor or buddy who also wants to save money. You can find people who have the same goals as you in facebook groups, reddit communities, etc.
3. Reward Yourself
If you keep on track with your goals for at least a week, allow yourself to have a reward. This will keep you going and not want to give up as easily.
4. Make a dream board of your goals and put it somewhere you can look at it everyday
This can remind you of your goals and the steps you need to take to get there. This can also motivate you in the morning and before you go to sleep.
5. Talk about it.
Tell your friends and family. The reason you should do this is because now that you have told everyone your plans, you are more likely to follow through with them.
